The Gali Ali Bag waterfall is a breathtaking natural wonder that attracts thousands of visitors daily. Situated in the Soran district of the Kurdistan Region, it’s hailed as one of Iraq’s most captivating tourist spots.

Soaring to a height of around 12 meters, it proudly claims the title of the tallest waterfall in Kurdistan and Iraq. Found near the imposing Korek Mount, standing tall at 2,076 meters, it’s a sight to behold.

What makes Gali Ali Bag truly special is its location where three rivers – Rwandz, Sidakan, and Khalifan – merge, creating a stunning spectacle. Just 95 kilometers northeast of Erbil, the capital city, it’s nestled in the picturesque Soran gorges, known for their scenic beauty.

Its geological history dates back around 25 million years to the Miocene era, formed by the convergence of the Arabic and Iranian tectonic plates. Named after a prince from the Soran Emirate or a revered Kurdish Yezidi Prince, it holds deep historical significance.

Every year, between 900,000 to 1 million tourists flock to Gali Ali Bag to marvel at its beauty and snap photos. It’s a timeless symbol of natural wonder in the region, leaving a lasting impression on all who visit.
