Embark on an unforgettable journey to witness the Qubbat al-Sulaibiya, an awe-inspiring octagonal pavilion with a breathtaking dome, located in Samarra, Iraq. This architectural wonder was created in the late ninth century or third century AH, using a unique artificial stone made from clay, which was also employed in the nearby Qasr al- ‘Ashiq, during the reign of Abbasid caliph al-Mu ‘tamid.

The building was initially located in a zone of palaces and gardens on the west bank of the Tigris, northwest of the former Abbasid city. The central chamber of the building is square and domed, with outer walls that are beveled to form an octagon. The square chamber has four openings, one on each side.

An ambulatory and an octagonal surround the central room, offering a stunning view of the surrounding area. The exterior walls of the ambulatory have one arched opening in each face, allowing communication with the outside.

Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness this magnificent piece of history and marvel at its beauty.
